Eleventh Annual Trench Town Community Festival, PROGRAMME OF EVENTS

  • Day 1Friday 3rd  February 2012

 

-          10:00 am – 4:00pm Information Fair at Vin Lawrence Park 1st Street, Trench Town.

This will feature booths by exhibitors and vendors including healthcare, financial services, birth certificate information accompanied by music.

 

-          8:00pm – 1:00amNyabinghi night atVin Lawrence Park, 1st Street Trench Town. Rastafarians from Trench Town, Scotts Pass and all the Nyabinghi orders will gather to chant drum and observe practices in their tradition around a tabernacle. Guests are invited to view and participate.

  • Day 2 Saturday 4th February 2012

 

-          5:30am to 10:00am – “Trod the Trod that Bob Marley Trod” (Fun run/walk) start at Culture Yard 1st Street. This will involve residents of Trench Town, friends of the community, athletes, entertainers, political figures, diplomats together on a planned route managed by marshalls running through the 4 districts of Trench Town from the Culture Yard to Boys Town on Collie Smith Drive for a presentation ceremony.

 

-          10:00am – 60:00pm Sports Day at Boys Town, Collie Smith Drive. This

will involve competitive and exhibition events including:

o       Finals of Football corner league

o       Capoeira

o       Netball Rally

o       T20 Cricket

o       Domino Tournament

 

-          9:00pm – 2:00am International Night at the Vin Lawrence Park 1st Street. Jamaica’s galaxy of international artistes will honour the legacy of Bob Marley and Trench Town’s contribution to the globally recognized music of Jamaica – Reggae. In 2011 participation of the Marley family by Stephen Marley and Junior Gong, Jimmy Riley, Tarrus Riley, Tinga Stewart, History Man, Ziggy Soul and many others, makes this a must see event each year. VIP service with State of the Art stage, sound and lights.  2012 artistes will be headlined by Stephen Marley.

 

  • Day 3 Sunday 5th February, 2012

 

-          9:30am – 11:00am Joint Community Church Service at the Trench Town Multi Purpose Community Centre 5th Street off Collie Smith Drive. This will involve all the churches in the 4 districts of Trench Town. Church choirs and gospel artistes will participate in this worship and praise service.

 

-          11:30am – 4:00pm Fun day and Mini Mr. and Miss. Trench Town Pageant at the Trench Town Multi Purpose Centre 5th Street. Children of Trench Town and environs will be feted, enjoy bounce about, games, refreshments and an exhibition of talent by the Mini Mr. and Miss. Trench Town to be selected by the judges. Prizes and surprises.

 

-          9:00pm – 2:00am Pepper Sunday at Vin Lawrence Park, 1st Street, with local sound systems and artistes.

 

 

 

  • Day 4 Monday 6th February, 2012

 

    -       4:00pm – 6:00pm Public Lecture at the Trench Town Multi Purpose Centre. Inaugural public lecture held on Bob Marley’s  earth day exploring Trench Town and its contribution through its many cultural and development practitioners to Jamaica and to reggae music as a global asset.
